Episode 1 - Is the Moon an Egg?
Hello and welcome to the Night Creatures blog!
My name is Emily, I like to embroider things, I also like to do other things; this blog will cover many such things. I hope you will enjoy this little catch-up and ramble space, featuring chit-chats of embroidery and other gossip.
Below are the chapters today and the ongoing structure that this blog will probably follow:
- What’s the craic in the Studio?? - Night Creatures tea
- Stimulants galore (ADHD medication extravaganza) - Personal tea
- Sporadic notes app writings - Oracle tea

Chapter 1: What’s the craic in the Studio??
Last week in the studio was spent embroidering all things warm and wintery. I wanted the last drop of 2025 (Friday) to feature more small items in the run up to Christmas. They all came out very nicely if I do say so myself. Today I’ve been packing orders and am hoping to pack some more this weeeek.
Personally the beanies are my favourite. Aside from the embroidery, they’re very nice quality - super soft and not itchy either, which is my biggest problem with hats in general! Nothing worse than buying a cute hat that’s uncomfortable to wear… The leg warmers are also very kewl and I’ll be posting a little photoshoot of those tomorrow, as I’ve not actually shown them off yet.
I’m currently working on a bunch of drawings in the meantime. Can I say why??? I suppose it’s not something worth keeping secret. If any of you own any sort of embroidery machine then this will hopefully interest you - I am planning to release a bunch of digital designs that you can download and use yourself! This is a fun foray into a branding I’m subtly building surrounding upcycling more generally, so it’s a cool idea that other people could soon use my designs to embroider onto their own clothes.
I’m chugging my way through this project slightly blindly. Will anyone be interested?? I’m not sure! Selling digital products is an exciting thought though. The current setup will be botanical flora / fauna flash designs to start with, so right now I’ve completed a bunch of mushrooms, flowers, and I am currently moving onto some lil bugs. Not sure when I’ll begin to release these but I’ll post about it in the near future :)

Chapter 2: Stimulants galore (ADHD medication extravaganza)
Now this has been a recent rollercoaster!!
I was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and have been having revelation after revelation about my life, all at the helm of this THING that has only revealed itself to me in 2025…
Adjusting to these meds, especially when I went up a dose 2 weeks ago, has been VERY WEIRD!!!!!! The first week on 40mg from 30 (Elvanse) was a trip. It was like bouncing off the walls in the morning followed by a horrid comedown at night. This has levelled out though and now feels more like an 8 hour redbull…
Here are some effects and revelations this month has blessed me with:
Quiet. It’s oh so quiettttt. I did not know this was possible. I’ve lived my life with at least two mental TVs on in the background. Someone’s just switched them off…! Not getting distracted or bothered by it constantly is nice.
Due to the lack of streamed entertainment provided by my own head I have found I am feeling much more extroverted, which is also nice.
Continuing from the above: ANXIETY. Or the lack thereof!! Anxiety has always plagued me, especially physically as an adult (iykyk bleh). Fixing this has been a real mission. I've been on SSRIs and Beta Blockers in the past (love you propranolol) and while they helped, I never felt like they covered the real pathological root of it all. Since starting ADHD meds I can confidently say that this was (at least mostly) at the root of it all… Now my brain is quieter, so is the evil noise. There’s no ruminating, no overthinking - It’s great!
I was worried I’d “lose my spark” but I think the only spark I’ve lost is the urge to spam post on my close friends at 10am... now it’s just 10pm when they wear off x
Overall it’s been a fun and interesting ride. I will keep taking these. Shoutout to lisdexamfetamine. Now I can get through my day without 5 coffees.

Chapter 3: Sporadic notes app writings
Here are various notes and oracles of late which have little relevance to each other.
-
I keep thinking about how the four weeks of the menstrual cycle mimic the four seasons. Spring / Summer / Autumn / Winter - and what is up with the 28 day Lunar cycle matching up on top of this? It’s very cool. It means something but I’m not sure what.
-
I had a dream that the moon was an egg. The moon could be an egg. Maybe it’s a celestial egg which is harvesting the energy of Earth, hence why astrologers say the moon rules our emotions. The whole time it’s actually an evil egg!! I wonder what’s inside - probably a girl. I don't think the moon is an egg truthfully. Cool concept anyway.
-
The soil must be nourished with death. I saw this sentence recently but forgot where.
-
Time moves slower on the garden clock.
-
Having interests in theology and the esoteric feels important - I think it’s good to keep unusual ideas and rituals alive. Just because something is lost to modernity doesn’t mean it is worth forgetting.
-
Saw a Bauhaus exhibition in Latvia recently. I really enjoyed it. One statement featured the quote, “fascism is the end stage of a dying system trying to preserve itself” which stuck with me.
